The Associate in Science (A.S.) degree in Addiction Studies prepares students for careers assisting individuals, families, and communities affected by substance use and addictive behaviors. The program provides a strong foundation in human services, psychology, and addiction counseling, integrating theory, research, and supervised practical experience.

Students develop the knowledge, skills, and professional ethics necessary for entry-level employment in addiction and human services settings or for transfer to baccalaureate programs in Social Work, Addiction Studies, or related fields.

Embedded within the A.S. degree are the 350 educational hours required for the Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor–Trainee (CASAC-T) as approved by the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS). Upon completion of the degree, graduates are eligible to apply to OASAS for CASAC-T status, meeting the educational component toward certification and advancing their career opportunities in the field of addiction services. Corning Community College is a New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Service (OASAS) approved education provider.

This program is also offered through a distance education format.
