CNC Machinist Part 2

Division

Associate Dean
Bradley Cole

There is a need for the availability of shorter, non-degree credentials in the Machining discipline. In response to this need, five stackable micro-credentials have been created. These five micro-credentials stack skills needed for various exit points depending upon what the student or the company desires.

This micro-credential builds on the skills gained from the Manufacturing Basic, Manual Machinist, CNC Operator, and CNC Machinist Part 1. This micro-credential gives students additional skills needed to program and operate CNC Mills and Lathes. Students will learn more sophisticated programming, learn and use industry standard Dimensioning and Tolerancing, be able to use industry standard measuring tools, use CMM's and Optical comparators to ensure parts meet specification. Students will also learn and be able to design jigs and fixtures for safe work-holding.

Stackable to Degree Program(s)

The CNC Machinist Part 2 micro-credential is the fifth and final micro-credential for someone who is interested in manufacturing and machining. The courses required can be applied to the Machine Tool Technology AAS program.  This micro-credential is 7 credits.
