There is a need for the availability of shorter, non-degree credentials in the Machining discipline. In response to this need, five stackable micro-credentials have been created. These five micro-credentials stack skills needed for various exit points depending upon what the student or the company desires.
This micro-credential builds on the skills gained with the Manufacturing Basic, Manual Machinist and The CNC Operator micro-credentials to give the student skills needed to program and operate CNC Mills and Lathes. Students will learn more sophisticated programming, learn and use industry standard MasterCAM programming to generate the code necessary to program CNC machines to efficiently make parts to specifications.
Stackable to Degree Program(s)
The CNC Machinist Part 1 micro-credential is the fourth micro-credential for someone who is interested in manufacturing and machining. The courses required can be applied to the Machine Tool Technology AAS program. This micro-credential is 8 credits.
