The CDA Preparation Part II Micro-credential aligns with recent accreditation changes toward a single unified span of birth through age five. Candidates are required to demonstrate knowledge and competencies across the entire developmental range of 0 - 5 years. This restructuring ensures alignment with both the national accreditation body and SUNY policy, while continuing to serve students and the early childhood education field with a rigorous, practical, and relevant preparation program.
The successful completion of Child Development Associate Part One is a prerequisite for Part Two, and both are needed to prepare for the submission of the CDA application.
Upon successful completion of this micro-credential, students will be able to:
- Design and implement developmentally appropriate activities using a range of methods, materials, and resources that support children's growth across developmental domains
- Apply best practices in an early childhood field setting by engaging in hands-on reaching, observation, and interaction with young children
- Demonstrate professionalism in the field through ethical practice, effective communication, and collaboration with families and colleagues
- Reflect on teaching experiences to identify strengths, areas for growth, and strategies for improving practice in early childhood education
